Reality TV Comes to the Classroom
The Lindenhurst High School Business Education Department is excited about The Recruit, a program that Nick Lombardo has created using his experience in the corporate world.

The Recruit is an offshoot of the popular NBC/Donald Trump show “The Apprentice.”

Recruits are part of a team that develops and executes strategies for competitions that deal with “business sense.” These contests are in the following categories: Community Service/Affairs, Advertising/Marketing, School Spirit, Event Management, and Fund-raising. The recruit team will use the skills they’ve learned in class to create products and solutions that will benefit the school community. Most importantly, they have fun while doing it.

Contestants on The Recruit are taken places they've never been before — often to a new location (local businesses, meetings, board rooms, etc.) but, most importantly, to a new level of experience. They have the opportunity to make a real difference in just several weeks time. They stretch their skills in new directions and take their talents to new heights.

Beyond Individual Benefits
This project will greatly benefit the Business/Practical Arts Department, the school, and the community in many ways.

The competition puts allows students to use the skills they have learned through Business Education classes. It has also generated a creative and responsive student atmosphere.

We have received tremendous support from area businesses who wish to promote academic endeavors, strengthening the bond between the school and the local business community.

The money that is raised by the students in this competition is put into a Business Scholarship/Practical Arts Fund.
